Clinical Volunteer Therapists
We are currently working face to face in Cardiff and online across Wales. However, we hope to expand into other geographical areas soon.
We aim to provide evidence-based support to under-represented members of the community by providing therapeutic services.
As part of this mission, we currently deliver a low-cost counselling service provided wholly by volunteers, some are fully qualified counsellors, others in the later stages of counselling training. As we expand, we are looking to recruit more volunteers to meet the growing demand of clients on our waiting list.
We are keen to develop a diverse volunteer group with a broad skills base so that we can offer a range of counselling approaches. We are particularly interested in recruiting volunteers who can offer:
- CBT
- Solution- Focused Brief Therapy
- Other therapeutic approaches
- Both in person and online counselling
In addition, we are interested in volunteers from under-represented groups and volunteers who are multilingual.
As a volunteer with us you will need to:
- Be qualified to Level 4 or above and working towards a full qualification in counselling or psychotherapy.
- Be able to travel to deliver counselling either from our central Cardiff office or outreach bases in Bridgend.
- Be able to commit to initially seeing at least 2 clients, on a weekly basis. We will offer more client hours as you progress.
- Attend a comprehensive induction programme and quarterly meetings
Volunteer counsellors play a vital part in our success and provide a much-needed service for people who otherwise may not be able to access counselling. We recruit new volunteer counsellors (whether in training or qualified) a few times each year.
