Join our board

In June 2018 Y Cwmni Siarad were awarded a Big Lottery Fund People and Places grant for £216,679 to develop our Low Cost Counselling Project. In line with this project and our development strategy we are keen to recruit new members to the YCS board.

While we would welcome applications for membership from all interested parties, we would most like to recruit members with experience in the not-for-profit sector and of working with under-represented groups and communities. We also have a particular need for a new board member with keen financial and business acumen.

No previous board experience is required and we are happy to offer buddying system for those new to board membership.

About YCS

Y Cwmni Siarad (YCS) was established in 2011 as a Social Enterprise company limited by guarantee. In February 2019 we reconstituted as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation, charity number 1182049.

The Next 5 years

The Big Lottery Fund People and Places grant provides an exciting opportunity for innovation and learning over the next 5 years, during which YCS will expand into Rhondda Cynon Taff and seek to increase partnership work with other organisations throughout South Wales in order improve access to counselling for under-represented groups and communities.

Our Mission Statement is:

'Working with others to provide evidence based support which meets the emotional and psychological needs of underrepresented members of the community'

We currently deliver a low-cost counselling service in Cardiff and Bridgend and an LGBT networking project.

Current Board Members & Meetings

Our current board mostly consists of individuals with experience in providing psychological therapies.

Our board meetings take place quarterly in Cardiff Bay/central Cardiff, though with our expansion into RCT this may change in future; we also work in sub groups for specific pieces of work outside of these meetings.
