Any adult experiencing difficulties and seeking counselling is welcome, and anyone can call us to discuss accessing counselling with us.
We offer a 12-session model of counselling at centres in Cardiff and Bridgend. We aim to offer counselling Monday – Saturday, 9am – 7pm but as our counsellors are volunteers, you may need to be flexible to their availability.
YCS regularly receive self-referrals from people signposted to us by healthcare providers and other organisations. We are happy to talk to such organisations about people who want to use our service but we always take referrals direct from individuals rather than from a third party.
Following your call or email we will make contact to take some initial details and agree the fee. This information will be passed on to the appropriate counsellor in the local area. The counsellor will make contact to arrange the first appointment. At this first appointment the counsellor will explore with you the nature of your issues you'd like to focus on and whether this service can offer you the help you need.
YCS are able to offer this low-cost service because all our counsellors provide their services free of charge. Some are qualified and experienced counsellors but most are trainees in the later stages of their training in recognised qualifying programmes. All counsellors are supervised by qualified supervisors or those undertaking a post qualifying supervision training. All are fully insured and members of either BACP or UKCP.
Our counselling is delivered in line with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and UK Council for Psychotherapy's (UKCP) ethical and good practice guidelines.
